Other Experience
Radio: During my degree course I gained experience in both the academic and practical side of media production. I have also gained significant industry experience in both commercial and community radio, having worked at several commercial and community radio stations. I am confident using digital editing software such as Cool Edit Pro and Pro Tools. I am also able to use studio equipment both analogue and digital. I have a personal recording studio, which I use for freelance production work. I currently present a weekly show (Weekend Wireless) on 103.6 Tameside Radio.
Work Placement: As part of my 3rd year of University studies I completed a nine week work placement at Wave fm Blackpool, Imagine Fm Stockport, and Wythenshawe Fm. In February 2006 I began a work placement at Manchester Key 103 which later led to a permanent position as a member of the production team. Previous to this I spent time with 96.2 The Revolution, TCR (Tameside Community Radio), HCR (Hattersley Community Radio). Combine this with my freelance work for Radio Aire and I believe I have significant experience in media radio production.
Information Technology: Computers play a big part in my life. I spend a great deal of my leisure time using computers, to gain knowledge, and for educational purposes. Similarly my working day consists of using computers to produce, communicate, and research. I am also able to build web sites; I have built a personal web site and a web site for my church which I update weekly.
Music: Music is one of the most important passions in my life. I have a very varied taste in music, liking most genres of music especially 60’s rock. I am also a keen guitarist and I write my own music, which I perform with my band around the local gigging circuit.
Time Management: Over the entire course of my education from GCSE’s to the present day, it has been crucial to have good time management skills to manage what has on regular occasions been a heavy workload. Working in radio has also provided me with the skills of working to a tight deadline.
